# Energy 1.1 Thermal Performance Rating - Non-Residential

# Applies to

Non-residential developments

# Objective

To reduce reliance on mechanical systems to achieve thermal comfort in summer and winter - improving comfort, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and maintenance costs.

# Summary

Points are awarded when the building's thermal fabric reduce heating and cooling energy consumption below the reference case. (BCA Section J), as follows:

  • >10% reduction - 12.5% score
  • >20% reduction - 37.5%
  • >30% reduction - 50%
  • >40% reduction - 62.5%
  • >50% reduction - 75%
  • >60% reduction - 87.5%
  • >70% reduction - 100%

# Documentation & evidence required

  • If using the DtS method, provide your insulation specifications (R-values), preliminary glazing calculation, heating and cooling system type and CoP/EER, and water heating system details.
  • If you are providing your own energy modelling, provide your model assumptions and results.
