# Circular Economy 1.1 - Resource Recovery - Construction Waste Recycling
# Applies to
All subdivisions
# Objective
To minimise environmental impacts associated with excavation and construction waste during subdivision development.
# Summary
Better practice is awarded where an excavation and construction waste management plan or Construction Site Environmental Management Plan (CSEMP) is provided, incorporating excavation minimisation and a commitment to divert at least 90% of construction and demolition waste from landfill.
Excellence is awarded where there is a commitment to divert at least 95% of construction and demolition waste from landfill.
The plan must include:
- A clear diversion target.
- Pre-construction documentation from contractors (on company letterhead) confirming destinations and materials to be recycled.
- Post-construction documentation confirming actual recycling percentages.
- Evidence that on-site staff receive a waste management plan during site induction.
# Documentation & evidence required
- Subdivision Design Response: Annotation on plan: '90% / 95% of all construction & demolition waste to be recycled'
- Excavation & Construction Management Plan: Document outlines on-site separation strategy, material streams to be diverted and orientation process for on-site staff
