# Energy 2.1d Renewable Energy - Community batteries
# Applies to
Medium (16-59), large (60-249 lots) and very large (250+ lots) subdivisions
# Objective
To support climate change mitigation and improve local energy resilience by enabling shared access to renewable energy storage infrastructure.
# Summary
Excellence is awarded where a community battery is provided within the subdivision and is accessible to at least 40% of residential lots. This supports local energy storage, enhances grid stability, and enables shared use of renewable energy generated on-site.
Applicants should demonstrate compliance by identifying the battery location, its capacity, and the proportion of lots with access, using site plans, energy system diagrams, or service agreements.
# Documentation & evidence required
- Subdivision Design Response: Location for community battery marked on plans. Annotation on plans - 'Community battery (SIZE), accessible to at least 40% of lots (or actual % of lots)'
