Strategies

  • Support the development of energy generation, storage, transmission, and distribution infrastructure to transition to a low-carbon economy.

# Objective

To support climate change mitigation and enhance energy resilience by enabling access to locally generated renewable energy.

# Summary

# Excellence

Awarded where a microgrid or virtual power plant (VPP) is provided within the subdivision and is accessible by at least 80% of residential lots. This supports local energy resilience, reduces reliance on the main grid, and enables shared renewable energy generation and storage.

Applicants should demonstrate compliance by identifying the microgrid or VPP infrastructure, its operational model (e.g., solar + battery, peer-to-peer energy trading), and the proportion of lots with access, using site plans, energy system diagrams, or service agreements.

# Documentation & evidence required

# Subdivision Design Response

  • Annotation on plans - 'A microgrid or virtual power plant will be provided, accessible by at least 80% of lots (or actual % of lots)'
