# SPR 2.1c Rest nodes and recreation facilities - Public water fountains

# Applies to

Large (60-249 lots) and very large (250+ lots) subdivisions

# Objective

To provide attractive and continuous landscaping in streets and public open spaces that contribute to the character and identity of new neighbourhoods and urban places or to existing or preferred neighbourhood character in existing urban areas.

# Summary

Better practice is awarded where public water fountains are provided in high-use and high-value locations within open space areas. These include:

  • High pedestrian traffic areas, such as adjacent to playgrounds or main path intersections;
  • Active open spaces where physical activity is encouraged (e.g., sports fields, fitness stations, walking loops);
  • Open spaces with planned picnic tables or BBQ facilities.

Applicants must identify proposed public water fountains locations in the Landscape Masterplan and demonstrate alignment with these criteria through annotations or design rationale.

# Documentation & evidence required
