# SPR 2.1d Rest nodes and recreation facilities - Picnic tables
# Applies to
Large (60-249 lots) and very large (250+ lots) subdivisions
# Objective
To provide attractive and continuous landscaping in streets and public open spaces that contribute to the character and identity of new neighbourhoods and urban places or to existing or preferred neighbourhood character in existing urban areas.
# Summary
Better practice is awarded where picnic tables are provided in locations that support social use and comfort within open space areas. As a minimum, picnic tables should be located:
- Adjacent to playgrounds to support caregivers and family groups;
- Within open spaces where BBQ facilities are planned, to enable group gatherings and outdoor dining.
Applicants must identify proposed picnic table locations in the Landscape Masterplan and demonstrate alignment with these criteria through annotations or design rationale.
