# SLL5.1b Off-road active transport network - Prioritisation within subdivision design
# Applies to
Large (60-249) and very large (250+ lots) subdivisions
# Objective
To provide for walking (including persons with impaired mobility), cycling, public transport and other motor vehicles in an integrated manner.
To contribute to reduced car dependence, improved energy efficiency, improved transport efficiency, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and reduced air pollution.
# Summary
Better practice is awarded where off-road cycling or shared paths are prioritised in the overall design. To meet the standard, applicants must demonstrate:
- A direct and continuous network of off-road paths between key destinations
- Paths well serviced by passive surveillance, with visibility from dwellings, workplaces, or public areas
- Clear sightlines, minimal corners, and accessible surfaces
- Raised crossings and minimal kerb radii to support safe movement
- Rest nodes at committed intervals
For staged subdivisions, these elements must be demonstrated for each relevant stage.
